Um ein Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit in die Isolierung von Kabeln zu verhindern, sollten Verbindungen von Leitern, aber auch gequetschte Kabelschuhe, mit Schrumpfschlauch mit Innenkleber isoliert werden.

So kann Korrosion der Kupferadern (insbesondere bei unverzinnten Leitern) vorgebeugt werden.

Der Schrumpfschlauch sollte möglichst gleichmäßig erhitzt werden. Hierzu eignet sich z.B. ein Multibrenner mit Deflektor.
