Conventional navtex antennas respond to the connected to the electrical component navtex radio signal. This usually works at sea, where electrical noise is low, very good, but in the port and near the shore, the signal is often suppressed by interference.In most pleasure boats, the electrical system acts as an effective ground for the antenna, but it can also be a source of interference be caused by other electrical equipment on board. Electrical noise may cause a bad reception. Especially in marinas where noise sources can interfere with the reception in the area or at sea, if poorly unsuppressed electrical appliances are in use.The omnidirectional antenna H-vector is not sensitive to electric fields, but receives the magnetic component of the navtex signal. As a result, it is less sensitive to locally generated interference, whether in port or at sea.The result is that, under unfavorable conditions, the H-vector antenna a significant improvement in navtex reception can deliver.
