Die Funktionsweise der ELGENA Boiler ist innovativ und energieeffizient. Die Boiler können direkt an das Motorkühlwassersystem angeschlossen werden. Während des Betriebs des Motors wird das Brauchwasser durch einen eingebauten Wärmetauscher erhitzt. Alternativ kann der Boiler auch an eine bestehende Warmwasserheizung angeschlossen werden.

Wenn das Fahrzeug oder Boot im Stand ist, kommt die eingebaute Elektrobeheizung zum Einsatz, um das Brauchwasser zu erwärmen. Nach vollständiger Aufheizung - elektrisch bis zu etwa 85°C und durch den Motor bis zu 90°C - kann durch das Zumischen von kaltem Wasser die nutzbare Warmwassermenge verdoppelt oder sogar verdreifacht werden.
