Der Einsatz von fernsteuerbaren Batterie-Hauptschaltern bietet den Vorteil, dass die Bordstromversorgung bequem vom Navigationsplatz aus ein- bzw. ausgeschaltet werden kann. Damit erübrigt sich der Einbau eines Hauptschalters in der Nähe des Batteriekastens. Gerade bei unzugänglich eingebauten Batteriebänken kann so die Länge der Hauptstromleitungen auf ein Minimum reduziert und der Hauptschalter in unmittelbarer Nähe der Batteriebank installiert werden.
